Ο αγώνας του Rashed Al-Swaisat απέναντι στον Anton Winogradow στο πλαίσιο του Παγκοσμίου Πρωταθλήματος Νέων στις 16 Απριλίου έμελε να είναι και ο τελευταίος του.
Ο τρίτος γύρος αποδείχτηκε μοιραίος για τον 19χρονο μποξέρ καθώς κατέρρευσε από νοκ-άουτ χτύπημα που δέχτηκε, με αποτέλεσμα να διακομιστεί εσπευσμένα στο νοσοκομείο όπου και υποβλήθηκε σε εγχείριση στον εγκέφαλο.
Μετά από τη δύσκολη εγχείρηση παρέμεινε σε μονάδα εντατικής θεραπείας όμως δυστυχώς δεν μπόρεσε ποτέ να βγει από αυτήν αφού το βράδυ της Δευτέρας (26/4) έχασε τη μάχη με το θάνατο, βυθίζοντας στη θλίψη και στην οδύνη τους δικούς του ανθρώπους αλλά και τον κόσμο των μαχητικών αθλημάτων.
“Με μεγάλη μας λύπη πληροφορηθήκαμε για το θάνατο του Rashed Al-Swaisat από την Ιορδανία, που εισήχθη στο νοσοκομείο στις 16 Απριλίου κατά τη διάρκεια αγώνα του AIBA YWCHs.
Οι σκέψεις μας είναι με την οικογένεια, τους φίλους και τους συμπαίκτες του, στους οποίους προσφέρουμε τα ειλικρινή μας συλλυπητήρια”, αναφέρει στην ανακοίνωσή της η Διεθνής Ομοσπονδία Ερασιτεχνικής Πυγμαχίας.
